How this guide was made: This is a research-based comparison, not a hands-on test. We have not tested these seats. Every price and specification below is taken from a manufacturer or retailer page listed in Sources at the end, checked in November 2026.
The verdict
Best pick overall: Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss, $489.
For most homeowners, the BB-2000 covers the everyday features at a mid-range price: continuous warm water from a hybrid system, a heated seat, a warm air dryer, a stainless steel nozzle, a remote, and a night light. It fits round and elongated bowls, and carries a full 3-year manufacturer warranty. That matters: two TOTO seats below, including the $1,404 premium model, carry only a 1-year limited warranty.
The BB-2000 is not the cheapest seat here, and it is not the slimmest. If budget comes first, get the Alpha Bidet JX2. If you want an automatic lid and TOTO’s bowl and wand cleaning systems and price is secondary, get the TOTO Washlet S7A.

What actually separates these seats
Water heating is the biggest practical difference. Tankless and instantaneous systems heat water as it flows, so the wash stays warm as long as it runs. Bio Bidet describes its hybrid system the same way. All five seats avoid the weakness of older tank models, which could run cool during a longer wash.
Fit comes before features. Measure bolt holes to the front of the bowl. Bio Bidet puts elongated at about 18.5 inches and round at about 16.5 inches; Brondell puts elongated at 18 to 19.5 inches and round at 16.5 to 17.75 inches. The priced S7A is elongated only.
Every seat here needs power. Bio Bidet specifies a GFCI outlet within 4 feet of the bowl, matching its 4-foot cord. The S5 cord is 3.93 feet and the Swash 1400 cord is 3.5 feet, per Sources. No outlet near the toilet means electrician work first.
1. Bio Bidet BB-2000 Bliss: best pick overall
Price: $489 at Bio Bidet (manufacturer store)
The BB-2000 combines rear, front, Vortex, and Turbo wash modes on one stainless steel 3-in-1 nozzle that rinses itself before and after use. It adds a heated seat, dryer, automatic deodorizer, night light, seat sensor, and slow-closing lid, controlled by a wireless remote plus a basic side panel. At 15.43 by 20.9 by 5.98 inches elongated, it is the tallest seat here.
Pros
- Continuous warm water from a hybrid heating system
- Full 3-year manufacturer warranty, joint longest here and not described as tiered
- Round and elongated versions, suiting older bathrooms with round bowls
- Stainless steel self-cleaning nozzle, dryer, deodorizer, and night light at $489
Cons
- Tallest profile here at 5.98 inches high in elongated form
- The manufacturer page does not list multi-user memory presets, which the seats below do offer
- Needs a GFCI outlet within 4 feet of the bowl

2. Alpha Bidet JX2: best value
Price: $399 to $449 at Alpha Bidet (manufacturer store)
The JX2 is the lowest-priced seat here with tankless, on-demand heating, so warm water does not run out mid-wash. It has a heated seat, dryer, Bowl Mist, a white LED night light with ambient sensor, two user presets, a backlit remote, and a sturdy sittable lid with soft-close action.
Alpha’s page lists two prices, $399 and $449, across its variants, without making the difference clear in the text we could read. The exact variant-to-price mapping is [UNVERIFIED]. Check which version you are buying before checkout.
Pros
- Lowest starting price here for tankless, endless warm water
- Two user presets, a backlit remote, and Bowl Mist at this price
- Sittable lid and a slim, low-profile design, per the manufacturer
Cons
- Variant pricing on the manufacturer store is unclear, $399 versus $449
- The manufacturer feature list we reviewed does not include a deodorizer
- Alpha’s warranty page lists the Alpha JX for three years. Whether that “JX” wording explicitly covers the JX2 name is [UNVERIFIED]
- Nozzle material differs across sources: Alpha says stainless steel, while some retailer listings describe an aluminum nozzle [UNVERIFIED]

3. Brondell Swash 1400: best for two separate nozzles
Price: $479.99 at Brondell (manufacturer store). Some retailers list the white elongated version at $549.99, so shop around.
Most seats use one nozzle for front and rear washing. The Swash 1400 uses two separate stainless steel nozzles, with seven nozzle positions. Its ceramic-core system heats water on demand. It also has a heated seat, a 4-level warm air dryer, a cool-blue LED night light, auto and eco modes, and programmable settings for two users, from a wireless remote with a magnetic docking station.
The ongoing cost is the deodorizer: a replaceable carbon block filter with a six-month life in retailer specifications, so expect to replace it about twice a year.
Pros
- Separate front and rear stainless steel nozzles, with seven positions
- Endless warm water from a ceramic-core, on-demand heater
- Programmable settings for two users
- Limited 3-year warranty, described by Brondell as tiered
Cons
- Deodorizer cartridge is a recurring replacement cost
- Manufacturer and retailer prices differed by about $70 in our check
- Warranty is tiered rather than full cover for the whole period, per Brondell’s wording

4. TOTO Washlet S5: best for bowl care features
Price: $668 at BidetKing for Cotton White, elongated or round; $780 for Sedona Beige elongated
The S5 is TOTO’s current mid-range Washlet, replacing the discontinued C5. It heats water instantaneously. Its two cleaning systems are the reason to buy it: PREMIST mists the bowl before use, and EWATER+ cleans the wand after use. It also has a heated seat (82 to 97°F), a dryer (95 to 140°F), a deodorizer, a night light, and a remote with memory for four users, the most here. Drawbacks: a one-year warranty, short for $668, and listed power consumption of 1,271W (1,426W maximum) while the heater runs.
Pros
- Instantaneous heating, plus PREMIST and EWATER+ wand cleaning
- Memory settings for four users, more than any other seat here
- Available in elongated and round, in Cotton White
- Published temperature ranges for seat, water, and dryer
Cons
- One-year limited warranty, joint shortest here
- Highest listed power draw in this guide while washing, 1,271W
- Costs about $180 more than the BB-2000 without a longer warranty

5. TOTO Washlet S7A: best premium
Price: $1,404 at Bath4All, a TOTO authorized retailer, for the elongated Cotton White version with the Contemporary lid (SW4736AT40#01)
The S7A is the flagship here. Its lid opens and closes automatically as you approach and leave. It has instantaneous heating, PREMIST, EWATER+ wand and bowl cleaning, a heated seat, dryer, deodorizer, night light, and a remote. At 4.0625 inches high, per Bath4All, it is the lowest profile here. One retailer describes four user presets while Bath4All describes two, so the exact preset count is [UNVERIFIED].
Auto-flush is not included. It requires a compatible TOTO Washlet+ toilet and a separate auto-flush kit, per Bath4All.
Pros
- Auto open and close lid, the only seat here with it
- Slimmest profile here at 4.0625 inches high
- Instantaneous heating, PREMIST, and EWATER+ wand and bowl cleaning together
Cons
- $1,404, roughly three times the price of our best pick
- One-year limited warranty, short at this price
- Priced version is elongated only, and auto-flush needs a separate kit and compatible toilet

FAQ
Do I need an electrician to install a bidet seat?
Not for the seat itself: manufacturers describe DIY installs on the existing water supply. You do need a 120V outlet near the toilet, GFCI per Bio Bidet, within cord reach (roughly 3.5 to 4 feet here). No outlet there means electrician work.
What is the difference between tankless, instantaneous, and hybrid heating?
All three heat water as you use it rather than storing a tank of it. Tankless and instantaneous describe on-demand heaters (Alpha, Brondell, TOTO). Bio Bidet calls its system hybrid, for continuous warm water. All five seats here are sold as giving warm water that does not run out during a wash.
Will one of these fit a round toilet?
Some will. The BB-2000, Swash 1400, and S5 are sold in round versions. The S7A version priced here is elongated only. Measure bolt holes to the front of the bowl first: about 16.5 inches usually means round, and about 18.5 inches usually means elongated.
Does a bidet seat need a hot water line?
No. These electric seats connect to the cold water supply and heat the water inside the seat. That is why they need electrical power.
Are warm air dryers a replacement for toilet paper?
Manufacturers present the dryer as a way to dry after washing and reduce toilet paper use. Ranges vary: the S5 lists 95 to 140°F. How much paper you still use is personal preference. We make no claim either way, since we have not tested these seats.
